6th DSA Conference in Bloomington, Minnesota
September 11-16, 2001
LOOKING BACK:
Eleven (11) years ago the host of DSA2001 was Minnesota Deaf Seniors. Jim Jones was the Head Chair...Jim Potter and Bob Jones were the Co-Chairs. The hotel was South Radisson-Blooming.
After the tragedy in New York on September 11 in the
morning, many Deaf Seniors’ flights across the USA were landed, grounded and
cancelled. Many Deaf Seniors missed the whole DSA conference. Some Deaf Seniors demanded to be at the DSA
conference; they found another way to arrive Minnesota from a long way from
their home such as cars, vans and buses. They missed the first day or two of the conference, but they enjoyed themselves along with other Deaf Seniors who were there until the end of the conference.
HANDS WAVING and MANY THANKS to those who were brave and
arrived DSA conference in Minnesota. Before the tragedy the number of registrants was 1,700. 1,100 attendants came. From New York 28 brave Deaf Seniors came!

They were so scared. After being freed when the doors were opened with a big force, the Deaf Seniors were relieved.
